Hallo Dodge,
That was brilliant! Now, I've not seen Cars and the story took a little getting used to; as you suggested, it is a niche story, but I think you did really well with it. Your pace is pretty much spot on - you give the reader enough time to get into the idea of the way the story is turning, so it's engrossing. And I like the way the story ends, on a positive note, with companionship and warmth.
