OMG. X'( I cannot believe kataras' dead. I'm making my own ending.
When Kataras' body had finally reached the South Pole, decay had already started eating away at her bodily form.
Still not accepting his daughters death, Hukota (eek, forgot spelling) called upon the only person he knew to help; the waterbening healer from the north pole. He had Kataras' body frozen by one of the more "advanced" beginners in the tribe and headed out on the gift from the Fire Lord; that gorgeous boat.
Sailing to the north pole would take a while, so Hukota decided to stop at the Fire Lords' palace for replacement supplies after finding that he was running low.
That night, as Hukota was dreaming, the Water Spirit and Moon Spirit whispered one of their greatest secrets to him. Early the next morning despite his drowsiness, Hukota gathered the Fire Lord, the Avatar, and Toph. Before heading out, he told them that he wanted them all to meet him at the South Pole as soon as they could. Skeptical but compliant, they all agreed to indulge in what they assumed to be grief driven hysteria.
By the time the four arrived in the South Pole, all of them were full with questions.
Hukota gathered the clan around him and his freshly unfrozen daughter.
"Brothers and Sisters, we gather here today to honor the body of my beloved daughter, Katara. Yet, on my journey, I have discovered something that the Spirits have so graciously bestowed upon me."
The glances from the crowd made Hukota pause, but the gravity of the situation made him press on.
"The Water Spirit came to me in a vision, it told me a story of how pure Katara was in her heart, how she wasn't meant to go yet, and then one of long ago, before we started to even count time. There was a man, gifted beyond his years, with waterbending. That young man, was only just reaching manhood, when his sister was killed by a lepoard seal. His grief blocked his ability to heal, his ability to see...just what he could do. That young man, froze his sister in the most beautiful, adorned ice coffin. Against the will of everyone else I might add. But his maddness was beget from reason."
Hukota paused to glance around and saw sokka nodding at him to continue.
"Water has the ability to heal the body. In the same vision the Moon Spirit told me of a fire bender who wrought with pain of losing his family to a raid from a neighboring clan, went to sail the world. He landed on our shores, half dead. The young waterbender found him, but by now enough time had passed since his sisters' death that the young man had scruff on his face from a beard trying to grow for the first time. The two became quite close, traveling enough to gather an airbender and an earthbender into their possy. One day, after becoming homesick, the waterbender requested that his group stop here, so that he could see his sister one last time before letting her out to sea. Upon unfreezing her they noticed how well preserved she was. The pain from losing his sister had come back and the waterbender requested one thing; that they try to save her."
Everyone was silent now, except Hukota who took a cleansing breath before continuing.
"Water my friends, can move blood. It can restart the Chi.
Earth can heal the body.
Air can bring back the mind.
And Fire, Fire can bring back the spirit.
I brought you here today so that we may all witness an act so sacred, that only the most powerful benders can even consider such an act. Now please my friends, please consider that Katara, and I speak not just for myself, but her lover, her friends, her kingdom, was a very important asset. She made us all better. Please, if you are willing, brothers and sister, I ask you to come forward. To stand by Kataras' side in death as she stood beside yours' in life."
Aang and Zuko couldn't have made it to the stand any faster than they did. Toph was quite, her posture showing how conflicting her thoughts were. The elder waterbender from the North Tribe wrapped her arms around Toph and said, "Child, if it's meant to be, it will happen. What will be the harm in trying?" as she lead Toph to the stand where Kataras' body lay.
When all four were touching Kataras' body, Hukota began to speak.
"I want you all to put your giving hand on Katara, and your receiving hand to your element."
Toph knelt down and touched the Earth, Air splayed his fingers in the air, Zuko reached for the sun, and Milia (made up name), the waterbending healer, reached for the sea.
"Now imagine, pure divine energy filling you. Breathe in the white light of creation. Know that if this is the Gods' will, it will happen. Zuko think of the spirit Katara had, of the Fire she lite within you. Aang think of the sharptounge she had, of the way she always spoke her mind. Toph, think of all the times Katara comforted you with hugs, that she was supportive and motherly. Milia, think of all the Good Kataras' done, of all the healings she has done for others. Now I want you all to pull the energy from the source of your element, and push it into Katara."
All was silent as Zuko thought about the passion and love he felt for Katara, about how her skin was always warm, and the Fire that was always behind her eyes, as Aang thought about all the times Kataras' plans have made them escape a situation, about how she was always good with comebacks, and her levelheadedness, as Toph thought about the spa day with Katara, about how Katara was always a mothering, about how Katara moved like water when they spared, and how her body was full, complete and lively, as Milia thought about all the good she's heard of Katara, about the scars healed on her companions by her touch, about how when she met Katara, she had this glint in her eye that said she would do anything, if it meant helping someone she loved.
Zuko closed his eyes, all his focus on Katara, when slowly but surely, he felt her presence with his firesight. He gasped, causing the others to focus deeper on their element.
Suddenly a burst of white came from Kataras' center, it spread throughout her body, then engulfed the table, then the Benders. In the white bubble, the Benders saw what was, will be, can be, and is. When suddenly they all began to visually Katara as alive is the was, will be, and is. The visualized her standing, walking, running, loving, kissing, singing, dancing, bending. They saw her living. The bubble burst sending everyone flying.
Zuko was the first to come back to consciousness, the blast had left everyone near Katara out cold. Pushing through the crowd, Zuko saw Katara sit up and faintly smile, just as the full moon started to rise.
**EIGHT YEARS LATER***
"Get back here!" Katara yelled as she chased Lani. Lani stuck her tounge out before turning to run. Getting about 20 feet before slamming into something hard. Lani looked up at her capture and screamed.
"NOoooo! Daddy No!! Now Mommy's going to get me!" Zuko laughed before hiding Lani under his Fire Lord cape.
Seconds later Katara ran up, looking winded, "Have you seen Lani?" She asked innocently.
"Lani? Hmm, nope. No I haven't. Why do you ask?"
"Well I wa----" Katara was interrupted by a high pitched giggle.
"Really? Are you sure you haven't seen her? Because lately, you two have seemed like you're scheming."
"Oh love, Never." said Zuko just as Lani ran out from behind him and jumped into the lake.
"Never huh? Well, I guess you'll just have to make that up to me later." said Katara as she kissed Zuko, stepping back and letting her eyes follow the length of his body before going after Lani.
"Wha--?" Zuko stuttered as his eyes tracked her over to the lake, Katara turned back long enough to give him a smoldering look before sticking her legs in to play with Lani.
"That girl, I swear she always suprizes me." Muttered Zuko as he walked away, already hearing the calls of Aang yelling about someones' stolen oxen.
Zuko sighed, somethings never change.
*Bows* Not my best, but it is four a.m. Blessings to you and yours, wonderful writing. Absolutely lovely. <33

An AMAZING Zutara fanfic! Kiss of Fire rocked, and this just added to the... awesomeosity? Whatever. Seriously though, I wish your story was canon. Doubt they'd show it on Nick then, but still. I cant wait to read your alternate ending and the next chapter of Kiss of Fire.

The ending of a beloved story is always a bittersweet event. I want to thank you so much for writing this amazing and wonderful piece of work. I love all of your stories but I'm very happy with this one. I'm glad that you started Kiss of Fire before ending this story or I would be very sad:) I'm always happy to see what you invent and you are an amazingly talented wordsmith.

Beautiful.
I had a feeling this was the ending you were heading towards. In a way I'm glad you did. Always use to seeing the "perfect" ending with most stories instead of a more realistic one. Look forward to see more work from you.
Well done :)
