Reviews for Confusion

I really enjoyed the sequence about Chopper, his insecurities and stifled desires. Poor troopers who have so many horrible things to deal with and se few good. I would hope for a happy outcome for these guys, but Slick is awfully devious. And as guileless as the rest of them seem, he'll always have the upper hand.

There's a lot in this fic I liked; Chopper finding a few moments to himself. The flimsi Sketch had drawn for him and the stories Punch contributed to ensure they weren't just images on a page, but *real* people to Chopper. I love that; the squad is looking out for one another, trying to mitigate the damage Slick is inflicting.

They just don't realize that Slick is one smooth operator and really, a step ahead of them :/

    *shivers*

Slicks's plans and execution of his ways to control his squad are exceedingly well written. His vileness comes shining through, not just in his treatment of Chopper, but in the plans he has for the other members of his squad to break them. They're so detailed, yet so personalized to their intrinsic natures, it's eerily creepy the way he knows them so well. His plans for Sketch are just evil, though it's his whole thought process. How he uses Gus and his plans to use Jester as stakes in a game of chance, that really hammer home just -how- evil this guy is.

Kudos to you for tackling such a raw topic and delivering it with such gut-punch precision.

Intense, but very well done! Great job with Gus' youth and shininess, which - sadly - Slick takes away from him. My heart goes out to poor Gus, because he *wants* parts of what Slick brings - the intimacy, the touching - but he doesn't want the other, darker things that are forced upon him. Having read "Scars," it's incredible to get this "behind the scenes" look at this part of the story. Wonderful work, as always.

    Holy smokes that as intense!

And totally not what I expected - but I should have seeing as how I've read Scars.

The initial introduction with Gus is sweet; his view on things is a great sequence where I really get a feel for his character and the character you've built from the glimpses we see. His innocence and eagerness is such a refreshing change from the hardened battle soldiers who've become jaded and fail to marvel at the little things over time.

I feel for Gus; his initial confusion when Slick comes on to him is such a contrast to the innocence from before. The initial feelings he gets from Slick's attention make sense, as do his pride and his enjoyment. And then... *shakes head* Oh Gus!!

The poor guy is going to be scarred for life :/

Unfortunately, Slick is everything he should have been and I expected him to be, taking advantage of Gus and simply taking what he wanted from the younger clone. His 'informative' talk about how Gus gets what he wants by doing certain things was chilling. I wanted to grab Gus and take him away - and if Gus is going through all this, it just goes to show what the squad was dealing with :/

Chilling; makes Slick's domination over the squad that much more twisted and sinister.

    Well done!
