Reviews for Red Robins Don't Fly: The Secret Files

DISCLAIMER: I was the proofreader for this story.

Overall it's a great coming of age story as both girls finally discover what's really been behind their "not fitting in" with their previous groups. It's a bit ironic that (in the show) Malika had more of a life before going undercover with the Red Robins yet fell into that world, and then Ingrid went in with nothing else to back her up, other than the sash, yet managed to pull herself away.

Of course, they you handled the behind-the-scenes view of what was happening was not only delicious but downright brilliant. I never would have stopped to consider that Malika had done anything more than succumbed to a power trip, yet you pointed out that she basically gave up on her real self just to fit in... or make herself think that she did. You also threw in some terrific impact, especially when Ingrid offered to walk away from the case leaving Malika free, but then she'd walk away from their relationship too. It was a real "ouch!" moment for me.

Then when Ingrid tried to sugarcoat what kinds of friends they could find together it was cute to see that Malika didn't believe it (and neither did Ingrid) but was still willing to give herself up to keep her girlfriend. It was also very nice on both girls' parts to let Malika fall on her sword to save the other girls from the brunt of the charges.

As for the detailed scenes, they really got my heart pounding a bit faster. It was cute and perhaps more believable that they would play with each other a bit but still not be quite comfortable "going all the way" on each other and instead switch back to themselves. Of course, that was Ingrid's fantasy from the first part anyway, and it seems that Malika was pretty into the idea of having Ingrid watch her masturbate too. Still it comes across as much sweeter this way.

The tidbit about Fillmore figuring out what was really troubling Ingrid, and especially his acceptance, was cute and a nice little bit of character definition for the nominal star of the series. Then his subtle explanation of how he knew what was had happened plus what "detention" was going to mean made me laugh. (Oh, and Anza's joke was a hoot too.)

Anyway, I have to say that this one was definitely worth the wait. The first chapter set the stage very nicely and gave us a great peek into Ingrid's self discovery (figuratively and literally) while the second closed the story as best as the heroine could manage, with the help of both her partner and especially the lovely perp.
